Bale Breaker introduces High & Dry

I love to see more people get into the Dry January spirit. And now Bale Breaker Brewing Company of Yakima, Washington has released the High & Dry N/A IPA. As the brand put it on its Instagram, “You’ve asked, and after 11 years, we have answered!” Eleven years is a long time for all those nondrinkers in Yakima to wait. I bet they are thirsty by now! So they had better get out to the Yakima taproom this month since the new brew is only available in January. Bale Breaker also operates a taproom in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.

Meet the High & Dry N/A IPA

So what’s this new beer like? Again, let’s go to Bale Breaker’s Insta: “Brewed with Pilsner malt and White Wheat, it’s fermented with a special maltose-negative yeast strain developed in Berkeley, California by @berkeley_yeast to keep things crisp without the alcohol. Hopped with Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra, it delivers a punchy aroma reminiscent of your favorite IPAs, so you won’t miss out on the hop-forward goodness.”

I quit drinking a long time ago and mostly drank really crappy beer such as Schaefer and Milwaukee’s Best (aka The Beast) so this description goes right over my head. But I’m sure it’s delicious!

Bale Breaker Brewing Company is owned by a family with four generations of hop farmers. The company started in 2013, and is now the fourth largest independent craft brewery in Washington.

Other Yakima highlights

Yakima Valley is a vibrant agricultural area well known for its hops and vineyards. But outdoorsy nondrinkers will find other stuff to do in this beautiful area. The valley boasts 300+ days of sunshine, more than 300 miles of trails, 34 lakes and ponds and 165 campgrounds. So stop by the taproom, drink a High & Dry or two, then gear up for a snowshoe or winter hike while you’re in Yakima.
