Okay, I’ve gone a little mask crazy during the pandemic. I might not have anywhere to go except walking my dog in the park, but I’ve collected a wide array of 2020’s hottest fashion accessory to show off while we promenade. HALOLIFE recently sent me one of their new masks for review, and my Halo mask quickly became one of my favorites.
First of all, it’s an attractive mask. I have the Unity edition in blue with a Flower of Life pattern. The geometric flower stars are gold metallic. I even got a compliment from the Whole Foods checkout guy, and those folks must see hundreds of masks per day.
This mask has style!
And it’s comfortable
Next, it’s comfortable and has a bit more construction than most of my masks. A light wire structure keeps it off of my nose—no sucking in fabric when breathing heavily—but doesn’t stick out so far that I look like I have a beak. The wire around the top also helps a little to not fog up glasses. While my gym was briefly open, I even wore it to a weight lifting class and was able to breathe fine.
This mask has eco cred, being 95% bamboo. Anything that grows as fast as bamboo has to be on the more sustainable end of the spectrum. The other 5% is lycra for a little stretch.
This mask keeps you safer
Then there’s the replaceable HALO Nanofilter™ which you can insert between fabric layers. Even though the filter is supposed to be good for at least 200 hours, I’ve been saving mine in case I have to get on an airplane or do something riskier than dog walking and a quick jaunt in and out of the store. According to the brand’s website, “With advanced HALO Nanofilter™ technology from New Zealand, you can breathe confidently knowing that you and those around you are well protected. The HALOmask captures over 99% of all airborne particulates in both directions down to an incredible 0.1µ (microns).” I’m not a scientist, but that sounds impressive.
This mask gets high marks. Now they just need a few more colors.
